EU Enlargements Fail to Shift National and European Identities: Study
The article looks at whether people's feelings about their country and the EU changed after the EU got bigger in 2004 and 2007. They found that people's national and European identities stayed pretty much the same after the enlargement. The things that influence how people feel about their country and the EU didn't change much either. So, the enlargement didn't really shake things up in terms of how people see themselves in relation to their country and the EU.
