Financial deregulation in Greece leads to declining income elasticity of money demand.
The study looked at how people in Greece used money from 1976 to 2000. They used two methods to figure out how money demand changed over time. The results showed that as rules about money changed, people started caring more about how much they could make from their money and how much it cost to keep it. Also, as technology improved, people needed less money compared to their income.
