Navigating the thin line between distrust and trust in business collaborations.
Inter-firm collaborations are becoming more common in today's business world, but sometimes they fail due to distrust. A new model using Game Theory has been developed to help manage distrust and move towards more trusting relationships. This model requires a network governance actor to guide the process. The research also explores how competitors can collaborate, known as coopetition, and how firms can benefit from working together while avoiding opportunistic behavior.
