Bank loans drive money supply in Asia-Pacific post inflation targeting.
The study looked at how bank loans and the amount of money in circulation are related in seven Asia-Pacific countries. They found that during the time when these countries were using inflation targeting, bank loans were causing changes in the amount of money available, except in Japan where quantitative easing was in place. This suggests that policymakers need to consider how the money supply can change on its own in today's economy.
