State-owned firms favoring trade credit over loans impacts China's economy.
The study looked at how Chinese companies get loans and give credit during a period of change. State-owned companies that did poorly were more likely to give credit to others who couldn't get loans. Private companies that made money were more likely to give credit than those that didn't. This helped their customers who couldn't get loans from banks. As banks became fairer, private companies gave less credit.
