The article explored human development beyond the commonly used HDI by looking at 11 categories. They found 39 indicators across these categories, with only 8 highly linked to HDI, showing it covers some aspects well. However, 31 indicators are not closely linked to HDI, suggesting that HDI alone may not fully capture human development. In comparison, child mortality rates are as good as HDI at reflecting development, while PPP income per person might not represent all human development dimensions. Interestingly, HDI may be less useful for measuring human development in well-off countries compared to developing ones.
