Slopes at steeper angles more likely to collapse during rainfall.
Rainfall can make slopes collapse, and the steepness of the slope matters. Scientists made mini slopes and made it rain on them to see what happens. They found that steeper slopes are more likely to collapse suddenly during rainfall. If the slope is 1.2 times steeper than the soil's friction angle, it collapses because the soil loses suction. If it's less steep, it collapses because of water pressure at the bottom of the slope.
