The article looks at how the economic crisis affected innovation in Russian manufacturing firms. They found that the crisis had both negative and positive effects on firms' innovation behavior. Some firms reduced investment in new products, while others increased research and development activities. Industries were impacted differently, with some seeing more innovation decline than others. Interestingly, around 30% of manufacturing firms continued to pursue innovation strategies during the crisis, regardless of their industry or financial situation.
