Toxic Air Pollution Hotspots Threaten Health of Kano Residents
Air pollution exposure in Kano Metropolitan Area was mapped based on different types of land use like industrial, residential, commercial, and institutional areas. Portable devices were used to measure pollutants like CO, SO2, and PM10. GIS technology was used to create maps showing where air pollution levels were high or low. The study found that neighborhoods near industrial and commercial zones had high air pollution levels, while areas near Dorawa and School of Technology had lower levels. This information can help estimate health risks from poor air quality and guide decisions on how to control air pollution in the city.
