The article compares two methods to analyze the efficiency of the Indian steel industry over eight years. The researchers used data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the frontier translog production function to study how well the steel production units were operating. They found that DEA was better at showing the potential for increasing production in each unit. Both methods showed that the industry had room to improve its efficiency in terms of both technology and scale.
