The researchers looked at how including the spatial correlation of house prices in a model can give better estimates of environmental factors affecting property values. They found that using a spatial error component model is more intuitive for modeling house prices than other methods. They also discovered that the choice of spatial model doesn't make a big difference in estimating the impact of proximity to landfills on house prices.
