Unit root tests were done on Canadian economic data to see if the seasonal adjustments made by government agencies were affecting the results. The study found that a unit root exists in both the original and adjusted data, except for the unemployment rate. Additionally, the common seasonal adjustment filter used by Box and Jenkins was found to be generally inappropriate.
