Climate change to drastically reduce water supply in major Chinese river basins.
Climate change is affecting the water cycle in China's Yangtze and Yellow River basins. By using different models to predict future climate scenarios, researchers found that annual runoff in these regions will decrease significantly in the coming decades. In the Yangtze River Delta, runoff is projected to decrease by 9.5% and 3%, while in the upper Yellow River basin, it could drop by 16.9% and 22.2%. This information is crucial for managing water resources and sustainable development in these major river basins.
