Anti-Dumping Duties Fail to Curb Imports, Only Offer Temporary Relief.
The study looked at how anti-dumping duties affect imports in the US, EU, China, and India. They found that when anti-dumping duties increase by 1%, imports of targeted products decrease by 0.43-0.51%. Surprisingly, total imports of targeted products actually increased by 30% while the duties were in place, suggesting the duties are only temporary relief. Factors like market share and tariff rates affect the likelihood of ending anti-dumping duties. Overall, the results show that countries are trying to prevent the misuse of anti-dumping measures.
