Developing Countries Struggle to Boost Agricultural Exports Amid Global Trade Shifts
Global agricultural trade has evolved over the past two decades. In the 1980s and 1990s, most trade growth was among industrial countries and trade blocs, with falling prices. In the 2000s, prices rose, trade reforms occurred, and developing countries supported their agricultural sectors. Despite this, developing countries have not significantly increased their agricultural export shares. They have mainly expanded exports to other developing nations, rather than industrial countries.
