Degraded rangelands in North China prompt urgent intervention recommendations.
Rangeland degradation is a big problem in North China, especially in Ningxia. A survey of 284 pastoralists in six counties found that most believe the rangelands have degraded, with varying severity. Pastoralists know more about technical and supportive aspects than economic and management factors. Those who think their rangeland is improving have better management and social perceptions. Recommendations include educational programs on management, social, and economic issues to reduce degradation.
