Climate change impacting water resources in Tibetan Plateau, study finds.
The Tibetan Plateau's precipitation patterns from 1961-2015 were studied. Summer gets the most rain, with 60.1% of the yearly total. The amount of rain varies across seasons, with summer having the most variability. Rainfall decreases from southeast to northwest on the plateau. Higher temperatures and changes in land cover can affect precipitation by altering the water cycle and energy balance. Different air circulation patterns also impact rainfall in different areas.
