Snowmelt Floods Threaten Vegetation Growth Across High Altitudes
The study improved a model to better predict snowmelt runoff in mountainous areas in Xinjiang, China. By considering daily temperature and precipitation, the model was more accurate in simulating flood peaks, with a 56.19% improvement. The correlation between vegetation growth and snowmelt also increased from 0.27 to 0.68, showing a stronger relationship. This research helps us understand how snowmelt affects flooding and vegetation growth in different mountain regions.
