Revolutionizing Global Governance: WTO to Address Environmental and Human Rights Concerns
The international trading system, led by the World Trade Organization (WTO), has been successful in promoting trade but has struggled to address non-trade issues like the environment and human rights. To better balance these interests, a new strategy is proposed to create separate departments within the WTO for different areas like trade, environment, and human rights. This would allow for negotiations and agreements on a range of issues in one place, helping to address the trade bias of the organization and better manage complex international concerns.
