Cameroon project empowers women farmers, closing gender gap in agriculture.
Agricultural extension services in Africa often neglect women farmers, who play a significant role in food production. In Cameroon's North West province, a project called MIDENO has been working to improve agricultural production by hiring more female extension agents. This has increased the representation of women in the extension service to 18.3%, one of the highest rates in developing countries. The project aims to help women farmers benefit more from improved farming techniques and close the gender gap in extension services.
