Brexit Deepens UK-EU Trade Decline, Services Hit Hardest.
The paper looks at how trade agreements between the UK and EU affect their trade. By analyzing different types of trade agreements, the researchers found that deep agreements increase goods and services trade by 42% and value-added trade by 14%. EU membership significantly boosted the UK's services trade and participation in global value chains. However, trade between the UK and EU is expected to decrease under all scenarios in the future, especially for services and global value chain trade, if the new agreement is less comprehensive than the EU one.
