Global Banking Concentration Threatens Financial Stability Post-Great Financial Crisis
Cross-border bank credit is mainly between big banks in one country and borrowers in another, especially in major advanced economies. Concentration in cross-border banking increased before the Great Financial Crisis and has only slightly decreased since then. The focus is higher on interbank credit than on credit to non-bank sectors. Even though interbank credit dropped significantly after the crisis, concentration in the interbank segment remains high.
