Sudanese women entrepreneurs achieve economic independence through microenterprises.
Sudanese women who run small businesses are empowered economically and socially. The study looked at how these businesses impact women's empowerment. They collected data from over 350 female entrepreneurs in Sudan, focusing on their demographics, business details, motivations, income changes, funding sources, and challenges. The findings show that women's participation in small businesses increases their economic independence, boosts household income, and helps them support their families and children's education. Before starting their businesses, only 16% of women could cover their family's needs with their income, but after starting their businesses, 57% could do so.
