The public sector in Bhutan is seen as a desirable place to work because employees there receive higher wages than in the private sector. A study looked into this and found that the wage difference between public and private sector workers can be explained by observable characteristics. However, people prefer public sector jobs because of the better overall compensation packages, especially fringe benefits.
