The article discusses the challenges faced in developing local debt markets in emerging Asia. These challenges include obstacles for borrowers and lenders, lack of liquidity providers, and insufficient government support. To overcome these hurdles, fostering a credit culture and creating a regional market for local currency bonds are suggested. The goal is to generate financial assets to support the growth of fixed-income markets and increase investment opportunities in the region.
