Zero tillage boosts fodder crop growth and conserves soil moisture
Conservation tillage practices were studied on different fodder crops and soil moisture in India. Zero tillage showed the best growth for all crops compared to minimum and conventional tillage. Each crop responded differently due to their genetic makeup. Green forage yield varied among the crops. Rice bean under zero tillage had low soil moisture depletion. Overall, conservation tillage is effective for growth of fodder crops and soil moisture conservation in this region.
