Biodiversity and Food Security Can Coexist Through Sustainable Agriculture
Australia has unique wildlife that is threatened due to changes caused by European settlement. Extinctions are happening faster than usual due to factors like habitat destruction and overgrazing. However, recent improvements in farming practices and laws have helped stop this loss. The authors believe that agriculture can now help protect biodiversity. By restoring habitats, managing grazing better, and creating wetlands, we can both save species and benefit the environment by storing carbon. They suggest integrating conservation efforts with agriculture to create almost win-win situations. To succeed, we need to focus on educating people about nature and taking active steps to preserve the country's diverse wildlife.
