The research looked at what is causing inflation in Central and Eastern European countries. They found that there are common factors driving inflation in these countries, like changes in commodity prices and exchange rates. The study showed that these common factors explain about 36.5% of the price changes. The most important factors were regional ones, which had a big impact on inflation in countries like Romania.
