Optimal irrigation and planting density combo boosts wheat yield and water efficiency.
The researchers studied how different amounts of water and planting densities affect the grain yield and water use efficiency of two types of winter wheat. They found that giving 45mm of water and planting 405,000 plants per hectare for one type of wheat, and 270,000 plants per hectare for the other, resulted in the best grain yield and water use efficiency. This combination reduced unnecessary water use and improved the efficiency of water usage in growing winter wheat.
