User innovators drive over one third of cost reductions in the economy.
The article explores how many firms are user innovators and their impact on technological innovation. By analyzing data from the Swiss Innovation Survey, the researchers found that almost half of all innovating firms are user innovators who do not conduct formal research and development (R&D). These user innovators contribute significantly to cost reductions in the economy, with about 15% of overall cost reductions coming from user innovation within firms.
