The study looked at how a pension scheme in India affected household welfare. They used data from two time periods and a statistical method to compare households in the scheme with similar ones not in it. The results showed that the pension scheme helped reduce poverty by increasing spending on food and other items. However, changes to the scheme in 2007 led to some households working less and not spending more, which made the poverty reduction less effective.
