Central bank transparency increases inflation forecast disagreement, benefiting economic performance.
Inflation forecasts are important for monetary policy. This study looked at forecast disagreements in nine countries from 1999 to 2009. Countries with more transparent central banks tend to have higher forecast disagreements. This could be good because it shows that transparency is helpful for monitoring inflation. This finding applies to all central banks, not just those with specific inflation targets.
