Prices in Switzerland remain sticky, leading to significant sizeable changes.
This study looked at how companies in Switzerland set their prices using data from 1993 to 2005. The researchers found that prices don't change often, with a typical price staying the same for about 4.6 quarters. Different types of businesses change prices in different ways. Price changes can be quite big, around 9.4% on average. Even when prices go up, over 40% of changes are actually decreases. Companies adjust prices when costs go up, but not before tax changes happen. Businesses in Switzerland adjust prices more often when inflation is higher.
