Polluted Urban Lakes Threaten Public Health, Urgent Action Needed
The study monitored the quality of artificial surface water in Baoji urban areas, focusing on nitrogen, phosphorus, and COD levels. Results showed that water quality varied throughout the year, with some sections exceeding acceptable grades in April but improving in November and June. Main river water was less polluted than branch river water, suggesting a need for increased monitoring and pollution control in branch rivers. Aquatic plants in wetlands were found to effectively reduce nitrogen, phosphorus, and COD pollution.
