Euro Overtaking Swedish Krona in International Trade Transactions
The report looks at how companies in Sweden set prices and make payments in different currencies when trading internationally. They studied data from Swedish companies between 1999-2002 to see if invoicing practices changed after the Euro was introduced. The main finding is that most companies use the same currency for setting prices, invoicing, and payments when exporting to other countries. The Euro is becoming more popular than the Swedish krona in transactions with European countries, even those outside the Eurozone. There is also a small link between changes in invoicing practices and shifts in exchange rates during the period studied.
