New index reveals improving quality of growth in developing countries
The article introduces a new way to measure the quality of growth in developing countries. It looks at how economic growth affects society and calculates this index for over 90 countries from 1990 to 2011. The study shows that the quality of growth has generally improved in developing countries over the past 20 years, but progress is slow. Factors like political stability, spending on the poor, stable economies, financial development, good institutions, and foreign investment all play a role in determining the quality of growth.
