Indiana cropland values surge, reaching near all-time peak in 1997.
The value of Indiana cropland has been steadily increasing over the past four years, reaching almost 100 short of the all-time peak in 1981. Cash rents also rose by about 5.3% from 1996 to 1997, with an average of $110 per acre. This represents a 53% increase in land value and a 24% increase in cash rents over the four-year period.
