The study used a detailed global model to predict the effects of different post-Kyoto carbon regimes on the economy until 2020. Without strong climate regulations, global emissions will double by 2030. The EU alone cannot make a significant impact, but if all developed and major developing countries participate and use available technologies, global emissions could stabilize by 2020.
