Population ageing reshaping household finances and financial asset returns worldwide.
Population ageing is a global issue affecting many countries. Recent studies have looked at how ageing populations impact household finances and financial asset returns. Research shows that age influences how people invest their money, supporting the idea that investment choices change as we age. However, the connection between demographics and financial asset prices is not consistent across studies. The goal of this paper is to organize existing research on these topics and summarize the main findings, suggesting that differences in results may be due to how the studies were conducted rather than actual differences in demographics, pension systems, or financial markets.
