Relationship lenders have 14 times higher chance of providing future loans.
Lenders who have a relationship with borrowers are more likely to provide future loans compared to lenders without a relationship. This is because relationship lenders have better information about borrowers, making them more likely to offer information-sensitive products. The probability of a relationship lender giving a future loan is 42%, while for a non-relationship lender, it is only 3%. Borrowers with more information differences are more likely to get loans from their relationship lenders. Relationship lenders are also chosen for debt/equity services, but this effect is small.
