Low-paid workers benefit from job changes, high-paid workers do not.
Job changes can lead to higher wages, especially for lower-paid workers. A study looked at data from the UK and Germany and found that changing employers can increase wages for low-paid workers but not for high-paid workers. Changing jobs within the same company can also result in moderate wage gains for low-paid workers in the UK, but not in Germany. The study showed that these effects on wage growth were similar over a 3-year period as well.
