Restrictive decision aids limit consideration of important issues, increasing decision bias.
Decision aids can influence decision-making by focusing users on specific issues, potentially causing them to overlook other important factors. This study looked at how restricting user interaction with decision aids affects decision outcomes. By comparing a more restrictive and less restrictive decision aid, researchers found that the more restrictive aid led to increased bias in decision-making. Users were less able to consider factors not highlighted by the decision aid. This suggests that the level of restrictiveness in decision aid design can impact decision quality.
