Recessions Fail to Improve Health Behaviors, Challenging Conventional Wisdom
The study looked at how the economy affects people's health and behaviors. They used data from 1990 to 2014, including the time of the Great Recession. The results show that when the economy is bad, people tend to smoke less and exercise more. However, this effect is not strong and doesn't apply to mental health. The impact of the Great Recession on health trends was not significant.
