US Leads in Low-Wage Work, Germany Surprises, France Improves
The article looks at low-wage work in the United States and five European countries. Researchers studied how pay setting affects the extent of low-wage work in each country. They found that the US had the highest share of low-wage employment, followed by Germany and the UK. France and Denmark had the smallest shares. Since the 1970s, low-wage work has been decreasing in France, staying constant in Denmark and the US, but increasing in the other countries.
