Job stability influenced by job matching and human capital fades over time.
The study looked at why people stay in their jobs for different lengths of time. They used a special method to analyze data from male workers in Germany. The results showed that at the beginning, people who might not be a good fit for their job tend to leave more often. Over time, this effect becomes less important. Education and training seem to matter less the longer someone is in a job. Also, certain workplace rules, like having works councils, have different effects depending on how long someone has been employed.
