Trade Liberalization Widens Inequality, Hurts Vietnam's Poorest Households
This study looked at how opening up trade can affect different households in Vietnam. The researchers used two models to simulate how trade policies impact people based on their income. One model had 16 household types, while the other had almost 6,000. By comparing the results from these models, the researchers could see how trade changes could affect poverty differently for each household type. They found that considering the unique situations of each household is crucial for understanding how trade policies can influence poverty levels in a country like Vietnam.
