The study looked at how local government audits affect whether government managers follow audit recommendations. They surveyed local government audit executives to see how different aspects of the audit process influence managers' adoption of recommendations. The results showed that managers are more likely to follow recommendations when auditors are well-trained, thorough, have good relationships with clients, document recommendations well, and follow up to make sure action plans are implemented.
