EU's Farm Policies Harm Developing Countries, Threaten Global Food Security
The EU's policies on trade with developing countries in beef and dairy are analyzed in this study. The EU's agriculture and trade policies involve different levels, including the EU itself and international trade systems. Developing countries are impacted by these policies. Criticisms have been raised about the negative effects of EU policies on international trade. Different developing countries have varying interests in trade. The EU's trade and agriculture policies are influenced by global factors, especially multilateral trade negotiations. Changes in EU policies affecting developing countries are tied to reforms in the Common Agricultural Policy. Recent reforms in the CAP are connected to the ongoing Doha Round of trade negotiations led by the WTO.
