Self-control key to promoting pro-social behavior over selfish impulses
Individuals with strong self-control are more likely to act pro-socially when faced with a conflict between selfishness and better judgment. This was shown in experiments where people played games that tested their decision-making. The study found that those with better self-control were more likely to act in a pro-social manner when they recognized the conflict, compared to when they did not.
