Price discovery in US and Australian stock and options markets was studied. Options market plays a significant role in price discovery, attracting informed traders due to leverage. Large price changes in Australian stock market driven by public and private information are permanent, affecting market efficiency. This research helps understand insider trading and regulatory implications, as well as implications for market makers in managing bid ask spreads.
